STONE CAP BIOGRAPHIES

Eric Boyle is a senior English major and Rhetoric minor. His interest in literature began his freshman year of college after reading Shakespeare's sonnets and has grown to include short stories, 20th century poetry, and war poetry. He is a student coach for the college's lacrosse team after a career-ending incident, and he wishes to further his coaching and teaching career after he graduates.

Cole Gayle is a current senior and English major, with interests also in Rhetoric and History. His literary interests include mostly 20th century American literature, and he became interested in short stories during Sophomore year after reading Anton Chekhov in Dr. Robbins' Creative Writing class. Cole loves the mountains and eating seafood.

Austin Gregory is a senior English and French double-major. He enjoys literature of the 19th and 20th century, particularly the Decadent Movement and Modernism. He also is pursuing a minor in Biology and hopes to combine his love for language and science into a worthwhile career.

​

Dalton Hall is a third-year English student and a fellow-traveler to Dr. Hardy's Senior Capstone Seminar.  He became interested in Virginia Woolf after discovering her work in high school, and became interested in periodical studies when he realized how they could offer a unique and seldom-seen perspective on Woolf's life and works.  In his spare time, Dalton enjoys reading, listening to music, and binge-eating.

Sarah Hardy teaches English at Hampden-Sydney College, including the Senior Capstone Seminar in the Fall of 2017. She became interested in Periodical Studies through her work on the short story, and she has been researching magazines in the early decades of the 20th century as part of her research on pregnancy and birth control in modernist fiction. She wishes she had time to read a magazine (literary or otherwise) every day.

Marshall Parks is a student of English and History at Hampden-Sydney College. His interests include 18th-century literature and 20th-century American poetry. In addition to his appreciation for literature, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys experiencing all America’s wilderness has to offer.

Amal Riley is currently a senior English major. He became interested in Black History and Literature after reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X in high school. He is excited that his capstone project meshes so well with his personal interests.

​

Carter Speidel is a senior English major at H-SC. Carter enjoys literature from modern American history, particularly from 1930-present day. In addition to reading and writing, Carter has a strong passion for live music, in both performing and attending concerts. He hopes to enter the music/live event industry following graduation.
